Identifying and Remedying Hostile Environments at Colleges & Universities

Webinar Recording

(Live version presented December 17th, 1-2:30PM EST)

Led by Victim Rights Law Center Deputy Director Lindy Aldrich, this webinar will help campuses determine when a hostile environment exists, understand their obligations under Title IX when they’ve identified a hostile environment, learn best practices to address it and ensure victims’ safety, and understand the broader impact a hostile environment can have on victims and the community.

While recent media discussion has focused primarily on rape on campus, the spectrum of sexual violence institutions must respond to is much broader. Many victims of unwanted touching, kissing, and sexual harassment also experience a hostile environment, necessitating an institutional response. Title IX requires that, upon learning of a hostile environment, colleges and universities eliminate the harassment, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects.
